The brief for this proposal was simple; a low maintenance, low cost and low energy environmental storage facility that blended in with its surrounding environment.
The architectural response is just as simple by proposing an elegant metal structure that uses the natural falls of the land to its advantage as an architectural response.
The building fabric is primarily steel framed with metal cladding and has a ‘presentation’ side facing the existing carparks for access which is enhanced by a batten screen and side entry canopy.
All gutters are eliminated from the building to reduce maintenance and allows the natural shape of the building to dispel water. Combining low level and high level openings encourages natural ventilation through the internal spaces.
