The Student Centre at Griffith University creates a new customer based, integrated service centre at their Gold Coast campus.
Bringing together six different service groups and associated health and counselling services, the centre required a new way of thinking to establish management model that could be successfully implemented across all groups. The solution was a new management model, entirely driven by the design process and user interface. This meant all difficulties presented to the team could be dealt with by design to provide a high quality and supportive service environment.
Our approach uncovered the need for a facility that would provide efficient services for students, future flexibility, and generous public spaces that could become places for informal meetings or study.
The main foyer now offers a student focussed service area which provides a one stop location for student services. The service counter has ten points of service and directly adjacent are three interview rooms with a large open waiting area. Additional to this are computer terminals and brochure display spaces in an area that is open and light.
The result is a space which successfully integrates all services to provide a student focussed environment that is relaxed and inviting while also identifying with the campus as a whole.
