As a leading education provider in creative media industries, SAE Melbourne campus saw a growth in demand and student intake, requiring the refurbishment and expansion of their current facilities.
The refurbishment of the main building saw the design of a new campus entry and reception, library, collaborative and breakout student zones, technical storage areas and administrative staff spaces.
In addition to this, an adjacent warehouse was transformed into a 300m2 soundproof sound stage. Now used for filmmaking and television productions, the space is complemented by a number of control rooms that focus on teacher and student collaboration.
A portion of the warehouse was also adapted to include computer lab and seminar facilities to cater for their growing needs. Linking the two buildings together is a double story communal spine, which also serves as a student gallery space.
The project was completed over four stages to minimise disruption while the campus remained operational. Despite concealed building issues throughout construction, our proactive response ensured the project was delivered on budget and without compromise to the final outcome.
