The 400 cell expansion (Secure Accommodation) at Woodford correctional centre including all support facilities to the existing centre which had previously been designed by Phillips Smith Conwell.
The approach was to integrate the expansion with the existing centre within a single expanded secure perimeter and to design the expansion so that the existing centre could be expanded with minimum disruption.
Phillips Smith Conwell Architects were commissioned as Principal Consultants by Project Services and the Department of Corrective Services for the Brief Development and Schematic Design stages.
For the remainder of the project, Phillips Smith Conwell Architects were novated to Walter Constructions following a two stage tender for Design and Construction.
