Phillips Smith Conwell was engaged as Architect and lead consultant in the new Wolston Correctional Centre and Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre. The sites were new mixed-classification centres located on greenfield sites.

The South-East QLD Correctional Centre (Wolston CC & Brisbane Women’s CC) project brief was to provide two separate ‘campus’ style, secure and residential accommodation on a greenfield site. The two centres were constructed adjacent to each other and share external facilities. Wolston CC (previously SEQ1) caters for 600 male prisoners, while Brisbane Women’s CC (previously SEQW) caters for 268 female prisoners. Both centres provide a mixture of Secure, Residential, Detention and Isolation Cells along with Programs, Medical, Industries, Recreation, central and administrative facilities.
